Background Information:

Pacific Rim Pathology specializes in testing for your gynecologic patient.  We appreciate the client’s need for accurate, concise, and timely reports leading to optimal patient care.  Our pathologists and clinical laboratory scientists use the most advanced technologies and information systems to deliver the services required from your anatomic pathology laboratory. Cervical cancer is a preventable disease caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
We use the only FDA-approved HPV mRNA test for primary adjunctive screening with the Pap smear.

We screen for the following High Risk types: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68.

The HPV test combined with cytology is more sensitive than the Pap test alone for detecting high-grade cervical disease in women over 30. A positive HPV test result in women age 30 and older represents persistent infection and an increased risk of cervical cancer. We offer HPV genotyping to identify the specific virotype responsible for your patient’s disease.
